Soho House members will at last have a place to stay in West Hollywood, an amenity that has been a mainstay at the clubs in New York, Miami, London, throughout Europe and downtown Los Angeles‘ Arts District. Starting in early 2022, they’ll have that option — at least nearby — when Soho House opens Holloway House hotel in the former Palihouse building in West Hollywood at 8465 Holloway Drive. And if you need some privacy, you can step into the library that boasts floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and seating arranged with live performances and special events in mind. Head to the dining room and enjoy Greek and Mediterranean dishes inspired by the menu of the famed Miami eatery Mandolin Aegean Bistro. Like every other Soho House, art plays a central role in the property's overall design aesthetic and vibe.
West Hollywood is a veritable design mecca, home to a myriad of artists and creatives, more interior design stores than you can throw a measuring stick at, not to mention the Pacific Design Center, a complex packed with shops, studios and one-of-a-kind concept stores. The city is a match made in heaven for Soho House, known for its avant-garde interiors, bold color schemes and on-point material choices. Each bedroom features 1960s-inspired furniture, aged wooden floors, and woven tapestries made with fabric custom designed in Southern California. Beds are upholstered with lush velvet or boucle, and accompanied by burl wood side tables and ceramic bedside lamps. Bathroom features include mosaic stone floors, hand-blown vanity lights, natural brass fixtures and, in some of the larger rooms, a dreamy empire bathtub.
Instead, the new Soho House seems to be banking on professionals in creative-adjacent industries, such as chefs, tech workers, business owners, and as Jackson-Glidden noted, Nike employees. “We’re trying to reach a crowd that’s creative in their souls and like-minded,” Andrew Carnie, Soho House’s chief executive, said. Just about every kind of casual restaurant format has gotten the Soho House treatment. In London, Soho House has a standalone diner (Electric Diner) and a French brasserie (High Road Brasserie), among others. There have been restaurant chains serving pizza (Pizza East), burgers (Dirty Burger), and rotisserie chicken (Chicken Shop).
